ReadyCheck Privacy Policy
Last updated 23 September 2026
ReadyCheck ("the app") helps you track game releases and coordinate gaming sessions with friends. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and what we do with it. The short version: we collect only what the app needs to work, we don't sell anything, and there are no ads.
What we collect
- Account data: your email address (or the account identifier from Apple, Discord or Google if you sign in that way), a display handle you choose, an avatar colour and icon, your device timezone, and - only if you choose to connect Steam - your public SteamID.
- App activity: the games you follow, events you mark yourself ready for, your gaming availability (days and times you set), squads you join, plans and RSVPs, friend connections, and any feedback you send us from inside the app.
- Usage events: a record of which actions happen in the app - for example that a session was created or a game was followed - together with a random identifier generated on your device and, while you are signed in, your account's identifier, so we can see where the app is confusing and fix it. These records carry counts, yes/no flags and short labels only. They never contain your handle, email, squad names or invite codes. One exception: when a search on the Games tab finds nothing, we record the words searched for, so we can add games people are looking for. A search that looks like an email address, a handle or a squad name is never recorded.
- Crash and error reports: when something goes wrong, the error message and technical stack trace, the app version and platform, and the same random device identifier (and your account's identifier, while you are signed in).
- Device data: a push notification token (so we can send you notifications you've opted into) and your device timezone (so times display correctly to your friends).
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, or browsing history. There are no advertising or tracking SDKs in the app, and no third-party analytics service: the usage and error records described above are collected by us, stored in our own database, and used only to improve the app.
Connecting Steam is optional. If you do, you sign in on Valve's own page - we never see your Steam password and we never store Steam credentials. What comes back is your public SteamID, which we keep on your profile so the connection survives, and which we use to ask Valve's public Steam Web API which games on your public profile you have played. We follow those games for you and store their Steam app IDs, so that a game you later unfollow by hand is not silently followed again. We do not store your playtime, your friends list, or anything else from your Steam profile. The check repeats about once a day while Steam stays connected.
You can disconnect Steam at any time in Settings. Disconnecting removes your SteamID and the record of which games were followed from it; the games themselves stay followed until you unfollow them, because by then they are your follows rather than Steam's.
How it's used
- To show your availability and plans to members of squads you choose to join. Your availability is visible only to people in your groups, never publicly.
- To send push notifications about game launches you follow, session invites, and friend requests. You can disable these in your device settings at any time.
- To let friends find you by your friend code or exact handle. There is no public search or directory.
- To understand how the app is actually used in aggregate - which steps people abandon, which features go untouched - and to find and fix crashes. We do this with the usage and error records described above. We do not use them to build a profile of you or to target you with anything.
Where it's stored
Data is stored in a Supabase-hosted PostgreSQL database (running on AWS infrastructure) protected by row-level security, meaning the database itself enforces who can read what. Push notifications are delivered via Expo's push service and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging.
Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing, and we never have. Data is shared only with the service providers required to operate the app - Supabase for hosting and the database, Expo and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging for delivering push notifications, Apple, Discord or Google if you choose to sign in with them, and Valve if you choose to connect Steam - and with your squadmates and friends as described, under your control.
Connecting Steam sends you to Steam's own sign-in page, so Valve receives your IP address there exactly as it would if you visited Steam yourself. The daily library check afterwards is made by our server rather than by your device, so your IP address is not sent to Valve again.
Your controls
- Remove friends, leave groups, or block users at any time in the app.
- Disable notifications in your device settings.
- Delete your account from inside the app, under Settings. This immediately and permanently removes your profile, follows, ready marks, availability, squad memberships, RSVPs, friendships, push tokens and any Steam connection. Squads you created are handed to the longest-standing remaining member so other people do not lose their squad or their session history; a squad where you were the only member is deleted with you.
- You can also request deletion by emailing support@readycheck.team if you would rather not do it yourself.
- Usage and error records are kept for up to 24 months. When you delete your account, the ones that carried its identifier are unlinked from it and stay as anonymous records tied only to a random device identifier. If you would rather they were deleted, email us before your account is deleted and we will remove them first; afterwards we have nothing to find them by.
Reports are kept for safety. If you delete your account, reports other people filed about you are kept for 90 days, so abuse cannot be erased by leaving, and then deleted; reports you filed are deleted with your account.
Children
ReadyCheck is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child is using the app, contact us and we will remove the account.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we'll update this page and note it in the app's changelog.
